Product Photography
Split into two semesters, product photography is my second elective subject.
This documentation is very concise, consisting of mostly photo's and end results.
Even though this was a group effort only my process will be showcased.

First Semester

Tube
Bathroom

Movie Poster
Second Semester
– coming soon –

Tube
We started by recreating the photograph with the tube.
We all took multiple photographs and are individually choosing our favourites.

We set up the table and placed a yellow sheet of paper diagonally across it.

On top of that, we placed the tube as shown in the reference photograph.

We also replicated the lighting as accurately as possible from the reference photograph.
I chose to work with a low aperture and a slow shutter speed.

Additionally, I set the light to be quite bright to make the tube more legible.

In hindsight, I would have preferred to shoot the photographs
from a different angle to better mimic the original.

I used the following settings: f/9 – 1/30 sec – ISO 100.
Below, you will find the original and final edited photograph.

Bathroom
This remake required a bit more time for the setup.
We all brought some items to work with, including towels and a soap dispenser.

We began by hanging the backdrop, we chose a rope-grey colour
in order to create more contrast with the lighter colours.
We attempted to replicate the setting using the items we had available.
This included using a lamp in front of the towel and an aluminium chair in place of a stool.

I worked with the following camera settings: f/5.6 – 1/15 sec – ISO 100.
I wanted to create soft yet visible shadows, resulting in a soft-looking image.
The aperture was set to f/5.6 to capture more light.
I chose to maintain an ISO of 100, making the sensor less sensitive to light,
which gave me the result I was looking for, shown bellow.

Album Cover
For this project, I worked from home using my Fujifilm XT-2.

As I don't possess professional lighting equipment, I worked with my dynamic LED lighting.

The goal was using a long shutter speed in order to make a person's face unrecognisable.

Unfortunately, my camera only offers a shutter speed of either 2 seconds or 30 seconds.

I, therefore, chose the 30-second option, with an ISO of 200 and an aperture of f/7.1.

I intentionally set the lighting to a low brightness so that the photo would not be overexposed.

Movie poster
The poster consisted mostly of post-production,
I shot the photo like i did with the Album Cover.
I did this shoot by myself using a timer on the camera,
but also by stacking several objects to function as a stand for the camera.
I used an ISO of 800, a shutter speed of 1/8 and a aperture of f/2.5.
Bellow you can find the result bellow.

Are you a teacher and would you like to view a timelapse of the edit?
